Job Title: Hybrid Physiotherapist
Location: Defy Sports Performance & Physiotherapy, Guelph, ON

Contact: laura@defysportsperformance.com

You didn’t become a physiotherapist to rush people through a schedule, hand out a program, and hope for the best until the next visit.

You want to do work that feels thoughtful. You want time to coach through a full rehab plan. You want to help clients not only in-person, but in the moments between sessions when questions come up, things flare, motivation drops, or the plan needs to change.

You care about outcomes, and you know great rehab does not happen from one appointment to the next by accident.

At Defy, we have built a model around that belief.

We are looking for a Physiotherapist who wants to practice in a way that is more intentional, more one-on-one, and more connected to what actually helps people get better. Someone who values active rehab, progressive loading, strong clinical reasoning, and using technology in a way that improves care, not adds chaos.

Who this role is for

This role may be a fit for you if:

  • You are tired of feeling rushed in back-to-back sessions
  • You want more space to think critically about programming and progression
  • You believe clients need more than a quick in-person touchpoint once a week
  • You care about providing better support between sessions, but do not want that to come at the expense of your own energy and sustainability
  • You want to work one-on-one with motivated clients in a model that allows you to go deeper
  • You know your way around the gym and are comfortable coaching movement, load, and exercise with confidence
  • You want to help build something better for both clients and clinicians

About Defy

Defy Sports Performance & Physiotherapy has been serving Guelph and the surrounding area for nine years.

We are a physiotherapist-owned clinic built around the belief that lasting outcomes come from more than passive treatment and short, isolated sessions. Our approach is rooted in active rehab, progressive loading, high-quality communication, and accountability outside the clinic.

We help people fully rehab injuries to the fullest extent, and when appropriate, transition into a clear fitness-forward stream so they can continue building strength, resilience, and performance beyond rehab.

Our clients include runners, active adults, lifters, field sport athletes, and people who simply want to stay active and capable for the long term.

We are not a passive-care clinic. No ultrasound. No e-stim. No gimmicks.

We believe people need thoughtful assessment, clear education, progressive programming, and a clinician who can guide the process from pain and uncertainty back to confidence.

Our space reflects that. We have an open-concept gym environment with the equipment needed to coach, load, and test meaningfully. We use tools like VALD Force Plates and DynaMo for objective strength testing and progress tracking.

How we practice

Our model combines one-on-one in-person care with dedicated time outside of sessions for:

  • program design and progression
  • check-ins and follow-up
  • video review and exercise feedback
  • communication when clients need support between appointments
  • making timely adjustments so clients are not left guessing

This means you are not expected to cram great care into the appointment alone.

We have designed this role to support the full clinical process, including the part that often gets missed in traditional settings: what happens between visits.

The role

We are hiring a full-time Physiotherapist to join our team in Guelph.

This role includes:

  • one-on-one in-person physiotherapy sessions
  • dedicated work-from-home time built into your schedule
  • client programming, communication, and follow-up outside the clinic
  • collaboration with a team that values high standards, growth, and strong client outcomes

This is a role for someone who wants to practice in a more modern, fitness-forward, outcome-driven way, while still staying grounded in excellent physiotherapy.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for a physiotherapist who is:

  • Registered, or eligible for registration, to practice in Ontario
  • Aligned with active rehab and exercise-based care
  • Comfortable in a gym environment and confident coaching movement
  • Skilled in everything from pain science education and assessment to exercise prescription and program design
  • Curious, coachable, and committed to becoming even better
  • Excited by the idea of practicing in a model that blends in-person care with meaningful support between sessions
  • Collaborative and motivated to contribute to a strong team culture

More than anything, we are looking for the right mindset and treatment philosophy.

We want someone who cares deeply about helping clients get real results, is open to growth, and wants to be part of building something special.

Mentorship and growth

We take mentorship seriously.

You will be supported through a structured onboarding and mentoring process, not just told that support exists. You will receive guidance from experienced clinicians in orthopedics, strength and conditioning, and client communication.

We host weekly education sessions to discuss cases, learn, challenge our thinking, and stay relevant as clinicians.

You will also have:

  • structured onboarding into our clinical model
  • regular support around clinical reasoning and programming
  • one-on-one meetings with a designated mentor throughout your first year

We want the people on our team to grow, both clinically and professionally, and we have built this role with that in mind.

What we offer

  • A full-time clinical role built for better outcomes and better sustainability
  • Competitive compensation
  • Paid vacation & 9 stat holidays
  • Dedicated time for between-session care built into your schedule
  • A work-from-home component
  • Structured mentorship and onboarding
  • A motivated client base that values the process
  • A clinic environment that supports exercise-based care and objective testing
  • A clear philosophy and model of care
  • A team that wants to raise the standard of what rehab can look like
  • We help people build specialized caseloads through targeted marketing
