OPA is a member-based health professional association whose mission is to provide leadership, support and advocacy for physiotherapists, students and physiotherapy assistants across the province.

Regardless of where people live in Ontario or their ability to pay, we support timely access to physiotherapists working to their full scope of practice to provide essential rehabilitative care.

OPA was incorporated in 1964 and has been representing and advocating for physiotherapists in Ontario ever since.

OPA serves over 5,500 physiotherapists, physiotherapist assistants, and PT and PTA students across Ontario. We are part of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association with 16,000 members across Canada.

Across Ontario – 16 Districts

OPA connects with the physiotherapy communities where they live and work through 16 districts across the province.

Supporting the next generation of physiotherapists

In 2025, 359 new graduates will enter the profession. OPA provides resources and guidance to support them throughout their transition.

How OPA Helps Physiotherapists

What we do for physiotherapists.

We lobby and advocate with government and other stakeholders and negotiate changes so that physiotherapists continue to be valued and fairly compensated at every point in the health care system. We inform and consult our members to address upcoming changes and to ensure our members stay up to date. We ensure physiotherapists have access to the latest guidelines, resources, and best-practices so that they can continue to provide quality physiotherapy to patients.
