what we do

Opportunities for physiotherapy are increasing in a rapidly evolving healthcare system.

The Ontario Physiotherapy Association (OPA) works to ensure the voice of its members and the physiotherapy profession is heard on important issues across all areas of the healthcare system. The Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) advocates on behalf of members with a national focus.

ADVOCATING FOR THE PROFESSION

OPA relentlessly communicates the value of physiotherapists to the people of Ontario.

We advocate to senior leadership within the government, the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health on the needs and priorities of our members.

We provide responses and submissions for legislative and policy changes.

We represent the physiotherapy profession on provincial advisory and steering committees.

COLLABORATING ACROSS ONTARIO

Keeping physiotherapy central through interprofessional collaboration.

We work with other rehab health professions so that our combined voice is louder and stronger on shared issues.

We collaborate with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario to ensure our messaging is aligned and to strengthen our voice.

We identify emerging issues and opportunities to members and stakeholders so that action is taken across Ontario.

MEMBER ADVOCACY SUPPORT

OPA supports members in advocating on local issues and research priorities.

We provide tools for members to advocate on issues that matter to them in their district, riding, or on provincial matters.

We provide a platform for members to spread awareness of emerging issues in regions across Ontario.

We support researchers through participant calls, letters of support for funding, and sharing best practice evidence.
