This self-directed and case discussion-based online course equips physiotherapists with the knowledge, skills and competencies to apply for rostering to order diagnostic x-ray and ultrasound imaging in Ontario. This program delivers the comprehensive and clinically based information you need to appropriately order x-ray and ultrasound in an evidenced based, responsible manner.

Course Objectives:

Upon completing the MSK Imaging Essentials course participants will:

1. Understand the key foundational concepts of diagnostic X-ray and ultrasound imaging
2. Understand the risks of subjecting patients to radiological studies
3. Understand the common radiological and ultrasound evaluations of the musculoskeletal system
4. Understand the clinical indications, contraindications and limitations of diagnostic Be able to integrate diagnostic x-ray and ultrasound into clinical practice
5. Gain the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies to apply to roster with their regulatory college for the controlled act of ordering diagnostic X-ray and ultrasound if permitted

Pre-requisites: This course is open to all licensed Physiotherapists in Ontario with or without prior experience in ordering imaging. All content is delivered on line so a reliable internet connection is essential.
