Course Description

Foundations of Electroacupuncture is a two-day, hands-on training designed to take practitioners from little or no experience with electroacupuncture to confident, clinically ready application. Participants learn how electrical stimulation influences pain physiology, neuromodulation, and tissue recovery, and how to integrate these principles safely and effectively into musculoskeletal practice.

The course blends lecture, demonstration, and extensive lab work covering device setup, frequency selection, in-line techniques, motor point stimulation, perfusion strategies, and protocols for upper and lower extremity injuries, spine-related pain, postsurgical recovery, and athletic performance. Practitioners leave with clear protocols and the confidence to implement them immediately in clinical practice.

Course Objectives

  • Demonstrate safe and effective setup and operation of electroacupuncture devices.
  • Identify and needle key motor points and myofascial structures in upper and lower extremities.
  • Apply in-line and 2-needle electroacupuncture techniques along functional pathways.
  • Implement evidence-informed protocols for low back pain, TMJ, sciatica, and post-surgical recovery.
  • Explain physiological mechanisms including nociception, neurogenic inflammation, and perfusion changes.
