Primary Care Physiotherapist

Primary Care Physiotherapists (5) Full-time Permanent 

Location: Collingwood and Wasaga Beach

Start Date: May 2026

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, within the hours of 8am to 5pm, with flexibility to offer some late or early morning visits to meet patient preference.

We are seeking Physiotherapists (PT) to create a team of 5. As a Physiotherapist in this new and unique role you will provide primary care assessment, education, care planning, and clinical guidance for rostered patients presenting with musculoskeletal, mobility, pain, and functional concerns.

As the successful candidate you will support timely access to conservative care, contribute to chronic disease management and prevention strategies, and help optimize patient outcomes within a team-based primary care environment. You will assess and support patients prior to them seeing their primary care provider to help facilitate timely intervention, conservative management, and support increased capacity within the primary care team.  This role will require some change management skills to help with shifting public understanding of the role of physiotherapy within a primary care team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Use research and evidence to inform clinical care, education, and planning.
  • Advise patients and their families on health promotion, disease, illness, and accident prevention.
  • Provide comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for rostered patients presenting with musculoskeletal, mobility, pain, and functional concerns.
  • Deliver front-line consultation, triage, and early intervention for musculoskeletal and mobility-related concerns.
  • Assess and support patients prior to primary care provider appointments where appropriate to assist with early assessment, patient education, and care planning.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated patient care.
  • Identify patients requiring further medical evaluation, imaging, specialist referral, or urgent intervention.
  • Provide patient education regarding injury prevention, self-management strategies, ergonomics, exercise guidance, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Support chronic disease management initiatives where physiotherapy input may improve function and quality of life.
  • Document assessments, recommendations, progress notes, and care plans within the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely manner.
  • Participate in case conferences, quality improvement activities, and interdisciplinary care planning.
  • Assist in developing clinical pathways and best practices related to musculoskeletal and functional care within primary care.
  • Promote appropriate utilization of healthcare resources and support reduction of unnecessary specialist referrals and diagnostic imaging where appropriate.
  • Maintain professional standards, continuing education, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, holding current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario in good standing.
  • Hold current First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and operational vehicle

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Experience with community care and/or a primary care setting
  • Experience working in an interdisciplinary team environment
  • Evidence of continued post graduate training in musculoskeletal assessment
  • Verbal and written communication, including effective use of computer programs like Microsoft Office, PS Suite experience an asset
  • Working autonomously and being self-directed

Policy Analyst – Practice and Policy  

Permanent, Part Time (0.6 FTE) – 24 hours per week

The Policy Analyst reports to the Director of Practice and Policy. Their focus is the development and implementation of projects related to practice and policy issues affecting the physiotherapy profession in Ontario. The Policy Analyst will seek out trends, monitor and respond to practice and policy issues, complete analyses and make recommendations to achieve strategic goals and priorities of the Association, and lead the development and implementation of advocacy initiatives and member resources.   

 Responsibilities include: 

  • Performing comprehensive research and analysis of complex practice and policy issues. 
  • Facilitating volunteer/stakeholder engagement to achieve practice and policy goals and objectives. 
  • Preparation of reports, briefings, presentations and other written communication for internal and external audiences. 
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with stakeholders including regulatory college, government, health system entities and other associations.
  • Leading projects and supporting activities to achieve the advocacy, policy and practice goals and objectives of the Association. 

Qualifications: 

  • Physiotherapy degree (MSc or BSc) or University degree in a related field (e.g. public health, health policy, public or business administration) 
  • Understanding of the roles and inter-relationships of stakeholders in the Ontario health system 
  • Knowledge of policy analysis, development and implementation methodology 
  • Qualitative and quantitative research/evaluation skills 
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, project management and communication skills  
  • Ability to research and synthesize complex information 
  • Effective independent and team skills with ability to build relationships and engage stakeholders  
  • 3+ years policy experience in health and/or not-for-profit environment in related areas an asset 
  • Experience working with volunteers  

Location

Hybrid: This position is a combination of work from home and in-person at our office location at 110 Sheppard Ave East, Toronto. The successful candidate will need to be available to work regular hours and occasional evenings and weekends. 

Salary Range: $72,000 to $84,000 pro-rated to 0.6 FTE. Offer commensurate with experience. Comprehensive Benefits Package, including HOOPP.

About the Role

You will play an integral role on our Physiotherapy team, collaborating within a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment to support children and youth (birth to 21 years). In this role, you will help clients achieve gross motor developmental milestones, enhance independent mobility, and build confidence in their physical abilities.

  • Assess, develop, and implement individualized therapy plans for children and youth with needs related to gross motor skills, posture, balance, coordination, and mobility
  • Partner with families, educators, and childcare providers to promote meaningful participation at home, school, and in the community
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to Physiotherapy Assistants
  • Apply innovative, evidence-informed approaches such as the F-Words of Child Development and strengths-based therapy to empower children and families
  • Collaborate and communicate with medical professionals and interdisciplinary care teams to support shared goals
  • Contribute to the growth and evolution of pediatric therapy services within a new, state-of-the-art facility

What We’re Looking For

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
  • A passion for working with children and their families.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently AND collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • French fluency is an absolute asset but not required
