Integrated Dry Needling

Dry Needling can be an effective and useful adjunct to an overall treatment program for our neuro-orthopaedic patients. This course is designed to cover dry needling techniques for the whole body for varied musculoskeletal conditions. Learning will take place through a combination of synchronous online sessions and in person practical sessions. These sessions will prepare you for the application and integration of Dry Needling to your caseload.

The curriculum of this course meets the required competencies of the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario for a therapist to use dry needling in their practice and to roster for this skill set.

Prior needling experience is not required but is an asset.

Note: This course is only open to Physiotherapists.

IPC Privacy Day Webcast

Watch the IPC’s Privacy Day event, Trustworthy AI in Health: The Promise, Perils, and Protections, that took place Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

IPC received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both in-person and online attendees. In total, almost 2,500 people attended the event. Their post-event survey showed that 99 per cent of attendees were very satisfied or satisfied with the event, and 98 per cent feel they now have a better understanding of the subject matter.

Acupuncture Canada’s Dry Needling Level 1

Plan now to add dry needling to your treatment toolbox.

Acupuncture Canada’s Dry Needling program is offered regularly in the Toronto area. Dry Needling training and certification starts with Acupuncture Canada’s Dry Needling Level 1 (DN1) course. Dry Needling Level 1 presents the concepts and theories regarding myofascial trigger points and the mechanism of action of dry needling from a clinical and evidence-informed approach. A selection of common conditions will be addressed with skills applications of selected muscles. Safety guidelines are emphasized throughout.

Using the trigger point approach, Dry Needling Level 1 addresses treatment of conditions including:

strain of hip flexors, rotators, piriformis syndrome, hamstring strain, Achille’s tendinitis, strain from immobilization in casts, posterior rotator cuff, ankle strain/sprain, shin splints, and knee strain.

The DN1 course starts with a 3-week online study component, including videos, narrated PPTs, quizzes and case management plans.

Online study is followed by a 3-day intensive in-person component where students work in small groups with experienced instructors, to learn safe, effective needling techniques. You will be able to start simple treatment of pain problems, with an emphasis on musculoskeletal pain, within your scope of practice.

2026 courses will be held in Toronto:

May 29-31, 2026 (online start date of May 8th)

October 23-25, 2026 (online start date of October 2nd)

The Acupuncture Canada curriculum has been carefully designed to incorporate on-line learning components along with hands-on skills sessions to provide the best opportunity for students to build their knowledge and their clinical skills.

DN1 is followed by Dry Needling Level 2 and Dry Needling Level 3: Advanced Techniques.

University of Alberta Online Diagnostic Imaging for MSK Disorders in Primary Care Course Series

This non-credit course series (three courses plus summative exam) focuses on the safe and appropriate usage of diagnostic imaging for the management of common musculoskeletal conditions seen in primary care settings. This course series will provide the knowledge and clinical decision-making skills required to effectively utilize conventional radiography, CT Scan, MRI and Diagnostic ultrasound. Emphasis is placed on using clinical practice guidelines to make appropriate, timely and judicious referrals for diagnostic imaging and how to use the Radiologist’s report to make appropriate patient care decisions. This course does not focus on the interpretation and reading of images.

The course series includes three self-paced online courses and summative exam (EXFRM 2700, 2701, 2702 and 2704 summative exam). Each course is six to seven weeks in length. Course 1 is a prerequisite for courses 2 and 3.

Upon successful completion of each module, participants can access a UofA non-credit transcript, be issued a UofA digital badge and will be issued a faculty digital certificate noting the number of educational hours.
